Saw Lilac Vegetal on clearance at Walgreens

I was at the local Walgreen's today and saw they had Lilac Vegetal on clearance for $5.99.

The one bottle they had left was opened, so I had an opportunity to give it a sniff. It is a soft refreshing scent, I found it to be quite nice , not at all like "cat pee" :001_tongu . Now I just have to find out if it's on clearance everywhere.

It's great stuff. Don't know why it gets so many negative reviews.
I do agree if you find it in a bottle, it's better.
My grandfather used it and guess who else does?:001_tongu

I can't seem to find LV in Walgreens in the Cincinnati area.
I've checked Family Dollar, CVS, Walgreens, and my local grocery store. Any further suggestions?

If possible I do want to find it in a store so I can give it a sniff and try on before committing to seemingly thee AS that's impossible to be on the line about.
You either really like, or you hate it. And while it isn't pricey, I don't want to be stuck with a bottle I hate.

I bought my huge bottle at a very large Bed Bath and Beyond

The fact that the bottle was already opened is key to the smell. When exposed to air the stuff takes on the sweet smell that it is designed to have. I have a bottle of it that was first opened a couple of years ago. The original smell is gone and replaced by the smell you get when it is applied.

I've read that it's better with a little air. If that's the case seems like quite a simple solution to the "pee" smell problem.

There was one bottle on clearance in a Madison, WI Walgreens as well. It too was open. For only $2.99 I couldn't go wrong though so I grabbed it and a regular clubman and headed to the checkout. Half way there a little leaked from the open Vegetal and I got a good whiff of it.

Bottom line: It's STILL on the shelf for $2.99.

Guess it's not for everybody. But the Clubman I love!

1. Check Bed Bath & Beyond with a Healthcare section. Not all BB&B stores have this. If they do, they have PLV.

2. Not easy to sample since Pinaud puts a plastic seal on the screw-top lids of their aftershaves. I would just suggest buying some. It's not that expensive, you could probably always PIF it if you hate it. I'm not in agreement with breaking the seal just to get a sniff. They store might have to then thow it out. Of course, there is always the chance that someone else might break the seal, then you can sample it.

Thanks for the info!
I'll find a BB&B around me with a health care section.
Edit: There isn't a BB&B with a health care section around me. Wonderful! :glare:
Looks like online will be the only way for me.

Apparently they seal this stuff for a reason!:lol:

Usually one would say they couldn't pay me enough for something I hate to receive... well I won't say something unless it is true.

They COULD pay me enough to take home a bottle of any Clubman product. But only if I am allowed to pour it down the first drain I see. I could put up with trying to kill the after smell for the next hour or so then subject myself to using any more of this stuff.

BTW, this post is probably spurred on by the fact that I recently ditched my bottle of Pinuad. I couldn't stand using it anymore. Its cheap, and you get alot for it... but I'd rather pay more for an aftershave then save a few bucks per month using Clubman at home when I do not have leave my home in a few hours.

YMMV, by all means I do not intend to change or challenge anyones stance on these products.

This post is just making my argument. The Veg smells so bad they have to put it on clearance just to get rid of it.

Must be why it's been in production so long. They just keep selling more and more so men all over the world will buy it and pour it down the drain, and drugstores can put it on clearance. Can't be that anyone likes it.

Pinaud products are available in many drug stores, department stores, groceries...

I went to Bruce Smith Drugs in Prarie Village, KS this weekend and was surprised to find a whole shelf of Clubman stuff, even giant bottles of Lilac Vegetal. I picked up a small one. The girlfriend says it has a bit too much of a baby-powder scent, but that seems to be the first thing to fade away.

I also got a giant(16oz) tub of Clubman Hair Tonic, which is okay, I guess if I want to keep my hair really stiff in the wind. Still prefer my Lay-Rite.

I lol'd in my pants!

Well the quest for the holy/unholy grail of aftershaves has ended. I finally found Pinaud's LV and Bay Rum at a Walgreens and yes, it was on clearance. Determined to see what the mystique could be about, I took a bottle of each. I am still trying to reconcile the experience of splashing it on and am still in a bit of a state of shock. I am doing a couple of experiments and will hold off on making any judgments calls at this time.

On a side note if any homeless people are missing, it wasn't me.
