Saw Giada De Laurentiis over the weekend

All,

Giada came to The Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show in DC over the weekend. It was a very cool event. Hundreds of cooking vendors, samples as well as a beer and wine tasting event right in the middle of the show.

SWMBO bought tickets to see Giada...way cool event although I felt bad for her by the end of the show. It was clear the event coordinators did not prep for her planned meals. She couldn't find anything she needed onstage! At one point she even asked for a spoon from one of the event POCs. I couldn't believe it!

Giada took it very gracefully of course, but I would have been ticked if I was her. It very much detracted from her cooking performance and none of it was her fault.

I was happy with the event overall, but I hope they pull together a better set up for the cooking stars next year!

Id say... you are 100% correct ;)

Is it true that some networks got ticked because she was "ahem" dressed inappropriately on her cooking show?

I heard that rumor.

 Am I the only one who is not impressed with this woman? Especially when she has to pronounce the Italian words with an Italian accent...funny how she goes in, and out of that! Besides, my sister told me once that she had her mother on her show, and she was very condescending to her...Looks ain't everything gentleman! She isn't that pretty anyway IMO. I know, I said it! Still though, I'm glad you got to meet her, Chris. Thanks for sharing!

Well, they are Italian words. I know you're just joking, but why not speak them in the fashion in which they are meant to be spoken? It's no different than wishing heavily-accented foreigners to speak English words in the proper sense.

On a related note, people look at me like I'm crazy every time I point out that the popular use pf "panini" is incorrect. "Panini" isn't a sandwich, it's multiple sandwiches. "Panino" is just as exotic sounding, so why not say that? It's the correct usage anyway.

I was with my friend recently and I ordered a panino. The waitress tried to correct me by saying, "A panini?" No, I told her, a panino. Singular sandwich. Then my friend was like, "Why do you do that? No one cares. This is America, not Italy. And you've never been to Italy."

It matters just as much to me as it does when people use apostrophe-"s" when writing plural words.
