Saville Row

My first brush was a QED Select 20mm Best Badger. Lost it, unfortunately. Because of the quality of the brush and Charles' respect for my dumb questions, I want to continue my business with him. I'll be getting a Saville Row silvertip brush from SWMBO as a combo Valentine's Day/anniversary gift.

I want something larger than the 20mm, so I'm thinking either the 3824 (Brush Wars Winner) or 3226 (long handled version). I use mostly soaps lately, but I switch back and forth depending on the day honestly. Been face lathering lately, but that also changes. I use a DB Brush Scuttle also. Any thoughts or ideas on why I should ask for a certain one? I'm leaning towards the 3226 because of the larger size and the long handle.

I don't do a whole lot of face lathering, but I know there are many that say using a larger brush is hard to face lather with, but there are some that say it doesn't matter. It's really just YMMV.

I know that recently the Savile Row brushes have had their loft reduced a bit, and I thought that my 3824 with the longer loft would be a bit on the floppy side but it isn't. Not the densest brush I have, but it has good backbone, and it lathers like crazy! Does very well with soaps too. The SR's have a deceptive quality to them. Thinking I would have a second brush of some kind to keep my 3824 company. :001_rolle

I say that you go with your gut feeling. I was greatly surprised with my 3824 and it has the same loft as the 3226, and if you want a longer handle and a bigger knot, then go for it! :w00t:

I have a QED Select Pure in 24mm and a Savile Row 3124. Oddly enough the Pure feels a little larger on my face which I enjoy. I too am thinking of the 26 as my next purchase. I seem to like a little larger footprint. Please let us know which brush you decide on and how it performs.

Don't forget Charles also stocks Savile Row Bests and Pures. As a fan of the pure hair, I can tell you: the bulb headed 3824 in pure is a fantastic brush.

IMO 3226 is too big for DB Brush Scuttle, XX24 will fit closely, maybe 1.5 size DB Scuttle with new brush.:wink2:

Oh great, feed the AD's :lol::lol:. I was actually thinking that with this large of a brush, a regular sized DB scuttle might work as a brush scuttle.

The SR3120 was also my favorite; it was the slightest bit firmer than the larger brushes with their longer lofts. Now, with shorter lofts as standard throughout most of the line (?), I've a hankering to go up in size and try the 3122. If that doesn't work out, back to the -20.

Same reason I want a larger brush- the shorter loft looks interesting to me!

SWMBO is ordering today- any last thoughts or opinions? I really can't go wrong with either!

I've had the SR 3824 for just a few months and it went back in rotation this week with Pen EF yesterday and Tabac today. It just feels right. Love it!

She finally ordered!

A brand new 3226 is enroute to me as we speak :thumbup::thumbup:

After a few lathers with your SR 3226, we would love a review of sorts. Having never owned a Savile Row I will be interested in your observations. Most of the gentlemen here at B&B who own them love them.
