Sauna/Steam Room

Just wondering if there were an others that have shaved in a Sauna or Steam Room? I have done this for years when I am in a place that offers one or the other. Before switching to DE I would take my cartridge razor in with me and once I got a good sweat up would begin to shave. I would feel for the stubble and take another pass on that area. Normally I would end up with a BBS and no nicks, cuts, weepers, or even razor burn. I would always get my best shaves in the Sauna or Steam Room. But not having that at home I would have to wait for a hotel, cruise ship or other venue that would have a Sauna or Steam.

I would not use anything like soap or cream to lubricate my face, just the sweat from the room. I have not been in a Sauna or Steam since going back to DE but I think I'll give it a try next time I have access to one.

Anyone else do this?

well, i got taught how to shave with a de in Finland in a sauna,
in finland there is a huge suana culture, and they take vihta or vaasta, which is birch boughs soaked in water and used to gently whisk or beat the skin and improve circulation, odly enough the sap or oil that leaves it is very slick, and my host father told me to use that, it was very good very slick, and the hair was super soft,
very nice to shave with,

I had the opportunity to take a sauna in Sweden with a Finn who had built it on some lake property - their house being the only one I could see. It was wood fired and HOT as hell! Used the birch, and did go out into the snow and rubbed down with it, but I would not jump in the lake with the hole cut in the ice! That was WAY to hard core for me! One of the best saunas I have ever had.

You wouldn't jump in the lake? But it's so worth it!

Yeah man, the lake is so awesome :)

i went in summer but ive dont ice diving here in canada,

we built a Saavu-Sauna, its a smoke sauna, we built a small building, cut a hold in the ice while we had a big fire burning in the enclosed space, and had some huge rocks heating on it,

then when the fire goes out the water is thrown on the sauna rocks and the coals , its like hard to breathe, and your like black when your done, but that wood ash is amazing for your skin, i swear ive never had clearer more comfortable skin, nor felt cleaner,

a couple drops of eucalyptus eo on the rocks will open your pores right up. I've also never grown the cohones to try de without a mirror in the sauna, but i think i'm going to try using a little shave oil and give it a go in a week or so.

for now, my sauana shaves are an excuse to go through my mach 3 and fusion blades.

Perhaps but I have an implanted defibrillator and any abnormal heart rhythm is not a fun thing to have with a defibrillator! It feels like you have "watered" an electric fence and got kicked in the chest at the same time. So I passed on swimming in the ice.....

I may have to try some oil the next time.

No kidding? But you could handle the snow? :001_huh:
