Santa Monica/S.F. Valley sharpening?

I have an old straight razor that I can't seem to get an edge on. I'm using the king 1000/6000 stone, but I think it's me and not the stones. Is there anybody in the Santa Monica or San Fernando Valley area who hones? thanks
