I cut through Macy's today to get to the L station, and found out that Merz has a full boutique in there. Near the men's shaving section, they had what seemed to be every Santa Maria Novella cologne, perfume and aftershave laid out on a table to sample.
After much sniffing, I put the Colonia Russa on. I really liked it a lot, and thought that there was a strong similarity to C&S 88 (floral with underlying patchouli?)
Unfortunately, it seems the scent seems almost gone just a couple of hours later. My three colognes--T&H Spanish Leather, Grafton and C&S Dark Rose--last all day on me. Is this a trait for all SMN colognes? I'd like to go back and see if the Imperial Lavender, Musk or Toscana do any better but won't bother if others have found smn to be short-lived.
