Sample testing

I recently received some samples from Marc (maxman) and decided to make a thread to keep track of my impressions. Any and all thoughts are welcome as I post my own. The samples I will be trying are:

Kanøn Norwegian Wood and Agarwood
Odori Cuoio and Tobacco
Bleu De Chanel
Phaedon Egyptien
Creed Himalaya, Original Santal, and Orange Spice
Floris Santal
Yves Rocher Homme Nature
Olivier & Co. La Colonia and Gincense

I have almost no prior experience with these, so it will be fun to test them all.

I've tried only Bleu de Chanel and Floris Santal. Santal is retro but very good IMO. Chanel is, well, a Chanel.

I have so many scents still to sample. Only thing I've tried off that list is Odori Tobacco - which I love and have a decant of - perhaps I should wear that tomorrow :)

I wore Kanøn Norwegian Wood today. I had heard nothing but good things about this fragrance and I agree with all the positive reviews. It smells good and can be found for little money.

I wore one spray so the development was probably somewhat quicker than if I had worn more. On me it started out with bergamot and maybe a little lavender. I had to do some research while I wore it to help figure out exactly what was going on with the top notes. This phase lasted probably ten to fifteen minutes.

Then very quickly the primary aspect of the middle notes- nutmeg- dropped in. This was the strangest part to me. The nutmeg gave a sour note to the fragrance. I'm still deciding whether I think this part was interesting or not because I didn't particularly enjoy it. This phase lasted about forty five minutes.

The base notes of vanilla and sandalwood were next and lasted somewhere around one to two hours. I am a sandalwood fan, so this was my favourite part. The vanilla lent some sweetness to the sandalwood that isn't usually there with the latter note.

I enjoyed this fragrance very much and will more than likely be adding a full bottle to my wardrobe soon.
