Sainsbury blades

This may be of interest to uk members, i have loads of blades after buying 3 huge sample packs, so i always have 2 packs in use at the same time, 1 sample and one easily available pack, been through the tescos, asda, boots etc, so bought a 10 pack from sainsburys a while ago for £1.99, opened them this morning expecting them to be the same as the tesco etc, but after you take off the sainbury card, they are packed and marked as dorcos, which was a suprise.

The Sainsbury blades are Dorco ST301 a very good blade in my opinion, Tescos/Boots/Asda & Morrisons are Personnas.

I also thought they would be the standard store brand Personna that you can get everywhere else. Next time I go to the big Sainsbury I will get myself a pack, the little one near where I live doesn't stock them.

For £1.99 for 10, its a good price, and a nice suprise, as you said, personna seem to rule the roost with the uk supermarkets.

I am currently looking for a 'go to' blade that I can get cheaply locally. I am lucky I can get pretty much anything locally, the only product that has limited choice locally is blades. All I can get is Merkur (not cheap), Wilkinson Sword (again not cheap) and the supermarket own brand Personnas. So these Sainsbury's brand Dorco blades are a real boon for me.

Got some of these today and loaded one in my 1953 Superspeed, a razor I have struggled to like, and they were fantastc together. As said they appear to be Dorco ST301s. They work out at £0.20p a blade and I have discovered the same blade online at £7.49 inc delivery for 50. Can't wait to try them in my Muhle R89.

I saw Superdrug selling some 10 per pack made in Korea blades yesterday but not sure who made them. I think it's less than £2 per pack but since I buy bulk over the net I guess they are still expensive for me.

They also sell Palmolive shave stick at 69p but you can get it for 49p elsewhere. :biggrin1:

There are better value -and in my opinion better quality- blades available on the internet. (not a fan of Dorco :thumbdown)
I occasionally buy after shave balm at Sainsburys (Bulldog is very good) but I'll ignore their blades.

Do Sainsbury sell the Bulldog range? I have been wanting to try some but have never found a local supplier.

These are indeed the Dorco ST 301s. I bought a pack today for £1.95.
