Safety Razor (DE) Head Assmebly resources?

Hey all,

I want to make my own safety razor and I'm looking for a place that sells the head assemblies. I have found
these here, but just wanted to know if there are any resources out there I am missing. Also I would love to use stainless steel, but cannot find any resources to buy the head assemblies. Any info would be swell!

There used to be several craft type guys on the boards who sold them. Em's place may be one, I truly forget the names of the others. Elite Razors may be one.

If memory serves The Golden Nib sells heads and handle threads.

Golden Nib sells a parker plain jane three piece set that has the threaded collar that would then allow you to use most (but not all) vintage and modern three-piece heads. It has a tang to insert into wood, horn, plastic, illegally obtained ivory, whatever.

They also sell a cheaper version, but I was told the threads will not fit most other razors.

That one seems to be just the two pieces of the head itself--the top and bottom plate.

The head assemblies aren't the problem, there are many options, including buying a whole razor and using just the head. Or using a vintage three piece. The issue is that female threaded collar. Another option than the Parker I posted and the one you posted, OP (and I'm concerned about that no-name working with other heads), is getting a vintage gillette three piece with the ball end handle. Those often come apart and you could salvage that threaded piece to replate and use in your custom razor.

I believe it comes with the collar/screw post shown at the bottom in the left photo. But you may want to write them an email just to make sure.

Right, but that's the male end, to use it you need the female end it screws into to mount on the handle

I believe the neck has a threaded hole at the bottom, but I'm not positive as they don't show it.

I may be wrong but I think the collar/neck is similar to the one shown below.

It permanently screws to the handle where I've circled in red.



If it does have male threads at the bottom, like the one shown below, could you tap your handle material or use a threaded insert?

That last piece you show is the one you need. It would be nice if someone would sell just that piece in a variety of finishes and then you could put a variety of heads on it.
