Safety Razor Acquisition Thread.

Feeling lucky. Now I don't need to find another wild razor for a while, but I'll probably hunt a bit anyway while I'm on the road. Time to go read mr-razor while I have some decent internet...

Also grabbed this Ever-Ready Badger-lon (badger and nylon, take that Yaqi!). Made a nice bundle.

To re-knot or not, that is the question. Looks "OK" but a bit funky for my taste. The handle took a lot of cleanup.

Very nice razor! Looks like a Cavalier to me! Congratulations!

My first Ebay "win," an O1 Super Adjustable 84 arrived Saturday. Knowing I'd be outbid (most go for $45+), I capped my bid at $28. I found out later that I won and immediately got buyers remorse; figuring I missed something others didn't (no photos of it open, figured it was frozen). It arrived pretty clean, a little soap scum/crust and a few flea bites on the doors but a nice user grade razor after cleaning. Surprisingly, the TTO opened, and the 1/4 turn to lock turned smoothly; once, and then refused to turn past the closed position. Figuring my first 1/4 turn knocked some hardened soap/crud/whiskers loose and jammed it, I popped the press-fit end cap off. I flushed/gently scraped a lot of old soap out but it still wouldn't lock, so I pumped some Dawn in the end of the TTO knob and soaked it and my O4 Super 109 Adjustable in near-boiling water. An hour later the 1/4 turn was butter-smooth on both, and after a quick "butter knife" gap adjustment/barbicide dip, it'll be "IP-Inbound, Cleared Hot on the Range," for Wednesday morning. I'm looking forward to seeing if the shorter handle on the 84 is an improvement, as I find the long-handle of the 109 difficult to work around, making the razor seem head-heavy.

FYI, the Italian Barber just rolled out their BBS razor online. I picked one up for $69, but as you know, they are always sold out when you want one of their razors. No reason to think that they will be there for long.

Inbound Tech clone made by Japanese company Citizen probably sometime in the 19060s. Mint and comes with nice gift set but I bought it for the expected Tech shave, but with better grip. I am smitten with this unique handle. Planned replacement for my Tech thin handle which will then go to the BST :001_tt1:

Picked up a Gillette Slim Adjustable on ebay. Took a bit of a punt on it, couldn't see the date code and it looked like it needed a decent amount of cleaning but its arrived in much better condition than expected and with 7 packs on unopened blades! Looking up the date code, it appears to be a 1963 4th quarter Slim (not sure if it can be any more specific than that?). One door is a bit lazy, but it closes snugly so will give it a soak in soapy water and a clean with some Cif and see how that works. First adjustable so looking forward to experimenting with the settings!
