Mail Call:
My first Argentinian Gillette Tech. I couldn’t resist another Tech especially one made in country that I don’t have. It’s an L2 so not sure on the year but I will do some research. Pretty clean but I will still give it a spa before I use it. I am trying not to buy everything as I was before. I am trying to only but things that I don’t have.

Just received the new Yaqi slant 37 razor.

This is supposed to be a very close design to the original Merkur 37C, which is one of my favorite razors.

The only downside that I saw with the 37C is that it never came in stainless steel, but it seems that Yaqi has made their own version of the 37C in SS.

Haven't tried this razor yet, but I'll give it a go tomorrow morning.

Ali express said mine just arrived in the US, now I’m curious how long it takes to arrive at your door.

I was intrigued by the look of the Rasiogoodfellas Syntesi; so, obviously, I had to purchase one (the Velvet). :letterk1:

 The Postie handed it to me earlier today:

The washer (fitted in the handle top) made aligning the blade a real pain. I removed it and then checked that the blade was clamped properly... it was. So, goodbye stupid (IMO) washer. :001_tt2:

I'll try it out this evening (and hopefully I'll like it :001_unsur).

It’s been so long (years in fact) since I’ve bought any new razors and I’ve done two in the last week.

Here in New Zealand we tend to get a lot of the English-made Gillette razors.

From what I can tell, this is an aristocrat from the 1920s. It’s presented in a really neat case with a riser mechanism in it that “presents” the razor to you. There is also a blade case/holder.

It’s in okay condition plating-wise and it looks like someone has replaced the felt liner, hence no Gillette brand but is nice otherwise.

I love the art deco detailing on this razor and it matches the gold tuck away I have (sadly with a split) and I’m sure it would be a good candidate for rhodium plating.

From my limited knowledge… that is a New, not an Aristocrat.

A good amount of News and Old Types have split handles. Basically, anything press fit has a high chance of splitting over time.

I am no expert but I do not think it is a New, I think it is a New Improved, possibly a Bostonian.

There is in fact a New Improved Aristocrat, similar to this but it is gold plated and in an imitation ivory case.

Ah, you could be right - the case is certainly a much better match. I stand corrected.

Mine is made in Canada if that makes any difference.
