I found another vintage Gillette at an antique store for $9. Crusty, dirty, and when I opened the TTO doors, there were rust stains. I know it’s nickel plated brass (date code J2), so can the rust be removed without damaging the nickel? Thanks.
Rust is just from an old blade that probably sat in it for decades. A good soak in warm water with a bit of dish soap and a old toothbrush will take car of that.
Toothbrush and baking soda or toothpaste
Good to know.It can scratch the plating, wouldn't recommend.
Nice work! Shiny again.
Looks really good to me. Fire it up!Blade gap looks even too. Next shave, I get to find out if I have to send it out to have it adjusted.
