Russisches Leder, Farina Gegenüber

As I've been getting into the leather/tobacco frags more and more (Knize Ten, Kolnisch Juchten, and even Quorum) I've stumbled across this stuff: Russisch Leder (1967) by Farina Gegenüber. Sounds good.

Anybody know anything about it, or perhaps the bigger question, how to get some? I was able to get a decant of the original Kolnisch Juchten (not the newer Parfums Regence), is this the same stuff? I guess it must be a fairly niche juice, I'm afraid.

What, nothing? I am aware I'm heading down the path less traveled but I didn't know I was going to need a machete for the undergrowth. Well, worth a try I figured.

Here is some good reading about Farina I located. Thanks for lookin'.

When I was a little kid in Germany, both Koelnisch Juchten and the Russisch Leder were two commonly used scents. I remember my uncle (who was born in the 1890's) used both scents. I also have a memory that my mother had the KJ on her make-up/toilette table. I have been looking for either of them for quite some time, and also asked old family members, but nobody has any left. If you find any, I would take a small sample just for the occasional sniffing purpose.

Rudy, the Kolnisch Juchten can easily be had with decants. Mudassir has them, I recently got both and the older stuff (Farina Gegenüber) is much more pleasant, a little floral amongst the leathery bits.

The newer stuff, apparently available only in a small shop in SF is more like what professorchaos describes, and I quote: "If you spend a day cooking fatty meats over a wood fire while wearing a leather jacket, the jacket will smell like Kolnisch Juchten. I like it quite a bit, but it is too smokey and too unctuous to wear often. Should I, however, find my self shaving before a boar hunt in Central Europe, it will be the EdT I grab." I also find it like a pipe smoker's leather jacket found in a damp closet.

But both are worth a try, don't be discouraged. Mudassir's extensive list of decants is here at Crystal Flacon.
