Russian Meridian

Hi all!

Earlier this week I received my Russian Meridian razor, and it looks like a Schick Krona copy.
I started to clean it up and I will disinfect it later tonight.
If everything goes well I will shave with it tonight or tomorrow

Looks like a Krona. If it shaves as good as a Krona, it will be a fine shaver indeed.

Let me start by saying, it is NOT a Krona!

I had to try my Russian Meridian this evening, a very good looking Soviet-era Krona copy.
I loaded it with a brand new Voskhod, Russian razor and Russian blade
And it is still August so I used an Arko stick, mashed in to a plastic jar, and an old nom boar brush.

First pass was a total surprise, I was not prepared for a TTO razor to be almost as aggressive as a Muhle R41.
Muhle R41 is just a tiny notch more aggressive than this old Meridian.
Just two small nicks on my chin but there was not much stubble left for pass No. 2 & 3

Second pass was a bit scary, going cross the grain was almost painful, second pass gave me some irritation on the left side of my neck.

Third pass was much easier, almost no stubble what so ever, I just took it easy with absolutely no pressure on the razor.

A three pass BBS shave with quite an irritation and burn on the left side of my neck.

This little razor is NOT going in my ordinary rotation

I received a Meridan a little while ago. I agree its not a mild mannered Krona clone. Definitely more blade exposure and a more efficient shave. Maybe up there with a R41.
I found it pretty smooth and the learning curve was short.
I am a fan of Russian razors so I am biased. Would recommend it. Its another pawn in my Cold War shave den re-enactments. Eye candy below.

Nice looking razors you got there
I wonder if my Meridian will be more comfortable to shave with if I use another blade?
Maybe an Astra SP or a Lord Platinum?
What blades are you using in your Meridian?
