Rubberwood Pasted Strop

Inspired by @Slash McCoy and his epic Pasted Balsa Strop:
How To Use a Pasted Balsa Strop
I lapped some Plantation Hardwood aka Rubberwood from my daughter’s old futon using a 400 grit DMT then pasted one side with CrOx and the other side with FeOx.
We all know with pasted strops that less is more and the wood was only slightly discoloured by the pastes but the results were excellent!

30 laps on each side of the strop and the Kurenai was like a shaving laser.

That soft balsa wood is well known as a medium for pasted strops but what about hardwoods like this?
Presumably different woods will have different stropping characteristics.

Anyway the results here were surprisingly good.

Rose to the occasion
Well I guess this is the next thing on my to-do list. As a dedicated DIY guy who seems to like bench strops, I will be experimenting. Thank you for the inspiration!
