Got this off ebay and didn't turn out too bad!
My process:
1. Run hot water on it. This helped loosen the ferrule.
2. Used leather gloves to help grip and was able to twist it apart.
3. Dremel the old knot out. This was very easy, once I got most of the middle done the rest knocked out.
4. Let it soak in dawn soap for an hour while I ran to the store for sandpaper and metal polish.
5. Prior to sandpaper, I brushed it all with an old toothbrush and soapy water.
6. Used sandpaper 400, 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 grit.
7. Used Mothers aluminum and mag polish then buffed with a clean towel.
8. Dremel the hole slightly bigger to fit a 26mm knot
9. Set a maggards 2 band 26 mm knot
Not perfect but I'm happy with it.
