Rr xxx

Yesterday I realized I hadn't used the RR XXX in months (maybe 3 or 4), so I decided to give it a spin.

It looked a little dry (maybe not - I can't remember what it looked like 4 months ago) so I put a generous dollop in my scuttle and whipped up a mountain of lather. OK - maybe it wasn't that dry.

After three passes I still had enough lather for three more. As I rinsed out the scuttle I noticed that there was still a pretty good sized lump of cream in the bottom. I used the left over lump today and made enough lather for two people.

This is pretty nice stuff and really excellent value for the dollar. I don't remember what I paid, but it was under $10. While the XXX is apparently out of production, RR would seem to be an excellent place to look if value is your main criterion.

I had to pay a premium for my XXX, but was glad to do so as it is the same as, or extremely close to, Acqua Di Parma (tub/jar version). ADP is $62 for a jar.

As I understand it, this was a one-time deal for RR, so there will be no more XXX (a shame, really). But there is talk of a product called XX coming soon. Won't be the same, we hear, but perhaps there will be some similarities.

So far I have only two RR croaps. I love them both. I only use XXX or ADP about once a week, as I know I won't be replacing them soon. But man do I enjoy the days I use them.

Agreed on the AdP. It is definitely one of my favorites and my jar is almost empty. It's going to be difficult to fork out the cash to replace it.

Yeah we know - tons of XXX posts on BB, Just about all RR products are the best value out there but XXX is a bit more special the most of the line. Joe announced a new XX cream/sof soap comming very soon if you missed it. I will buy that the day it comes out.

As I understand it the Castle Forbes is dubbed the King of The Castle line, XX is another beast entirely. I do recall seeing a thread on the shave nook stating those from the horses mouth.

I've seen it on B/S/T for $40. Let's just say I bought it for a bit less than that, but far more than the $10 original price.

I have also seen it surmised that XX would be a Castle Forbes clone. Perhaps Joe uses the X's when he actually has another product he is relabeling and selling at a discount. Purely a guess on my part.

No matter what, unless I hear negative reviews (from posters who I respect) before pulling the trigger, I will buy XX as soon as I can find it.

Whatever it will be, you have to admit, Joe certainly knows how to create some buzz. Of course, when your product is that good, it's probably easy.
