hmmmm - there is that too.... I wish I could afford a foredom although as many dremels and department store brands I've gone through I probably could have bought at least one by now...

Foredom is excellent. Not the most portable thing going and you have to try to ensure the flexible shaft stays fairly straight. I have one and just ordered a Proxxon.
i purchased a job mate on sale a long time ago for $19.99 cdn and while it doesnt perform great at smaller speeds (it lags and can get hung up) i've actually never had a problem with it at full and higher speeds and it has lasted me over 8yrs now, the think keeps on goin accepts all dremel accesories. I actually dont even bother cleaning the damn think hoping it would crap out and i can finnaly buy a dremel ( i dun know why this one works just as well.) Dont be afraid of the cheaper brands.
