Rosa Damascena SS

This is in regards to the SRD/SCS offering. How do these compare against TOBS Rose SC or any other Rose SC/SS? Is it really worth paying the high prices for either of these products?

Different roses. Damascena Rose is a darker, more complex fragrance. The EO is expensive; therefore, the soap is expensive. No way around it.

SCS Rosa Damascena is a wonderful soap and a steal at the price. I actually shaved with it this morning and I ordered an extra puck thinking that Wendy was going to keep it out of the site because is a limited edition.
The scent is not as dark as Straight Razors but it shaves just as good, GREAT lather and very slick. I noticed that when I rinsed with cold water after the shave, how smooth and slipppery my face felt.

If you like Rose you will not be dissapointed. The only CON: it is sort of a soft creamy soap that might not last as long but so are the glycerin soaps.

SCS/SRD soaps use essential oil from the damask rose; reported to be the only rose breed to give up essence. The others listed are fragrance oil produced by chemist. I've been wanting to try the SCS soap, the price has been to good to be true for me to not expect disappointment, and I really only use tallow soaps.

SCS soaps are some of my favorites. Her Bulgarian Rose is a steal...get the ASB, too.

The fragrance is from pure rose oil. The damask rose is the only rose that oil can be extracted from. The cost is about $100 to $200 per 15 ml which isn't a lot of oil. So, this is an expensive product to make. Cost wise it's excessive to many. Although it may appear to be a rip-off to the customer, it is really a wash due to the initial cost of the oil.

This site explains the very high volume of roses (60,000) to produce just one drop of oil: http://www.roseotto.com/

Is it worth it? I don't know, to some I guess it is. It's fun for Wendy and I to offer different products from time to time. Maybe we are indulging ourselves.

+1 on all the favorable things said about the SCS Rosa Damascena.

I just got a bottle of the edt in a trade, after having had it prevviously. I think it holds up very well as a dark rose. This morining I put 88 on one arm and SCS RD and followed them as they evolved. Not identical, but very similar. To me the RD is less radical than the 88 and thus i would have thought would be more widely possible. But there is not doubt in my mind that 88 is a masterpiece, although one not for everyone. Not close to everyone!

Full disclosure as I might be biased. No financial interest whatsoever on my part of course. But Sue sent me samples of the RD as she was working on it pre-release to get my views. I doublt I was any help at all and she gets full credit for its creation. Also, as I am sure has been noted, the soap and ASB are pure dark rose. The edt has other ingredients/accords.

I would think that folks that like dark rose scents would also like the SCS Bulgarian lavender products. To me they have the same masculine darkness.
