Rooney Super 1/2 3 months on

Hi all,

I just thought I'd update you on my Rooney Super 1/2 3 months into owning one.

Well, firstly after much reseach I actually decided to get it in small but they accidently sent me the medium and I'm glad I kept it. I had my reservations to start with as I thought it would be too big and messy for picking up soap from the bowl and face lathering. As it is a bit of a lather hog it actually works very well for this purpose. Picks up loads of soap and when I face lather I can develop loads of lather without it flinging everywhere. Perfect!

It hasn't all been smooth sailing. At first the smell was horrendous and took about 2 weeks to go away... and then it started shedding. Not 1-5 hairs but 10-20 every day for about 2 weeks! I was a little annoyed and was about to send it back but then all of a sudden this stopped overnight. I probably loose 3-5 hairs per week which I think is perfectly acceptable.

In short I'm glad I stuck with it over the first month. It's the only brush I use now. It feels great in the hand (nice fat handle) and feels great on the face (soft tips, good density and backbone).

I'd not hesitate to recommend one.

Is 3-5 hairs a week acceptable?

I just got a 1/1 and am freaking out cuz it has already lost about 6-7 hairs.

3-4 hairs seems like an awful lot. My 1/2 Super shed for about 6 months and then calmed down. I'm suspicious that I was the culprit (too aggressive with the lathering). Could this be your issue? That said, at 3 months, this one seems like a shedder...perhaps an email to the vendor is in order.

That type of shedding is really not acceptable, I would return it.

Yep, return it.
After the first week or so in which my 1/2 Super lost about 10 hairs totally, it hasn't lost any since.
It's possible that you're 'pumping' too hard when loading the brush or somthing like that, but still, a Rooney shouldn't lose hairs at that rate.

I have a Rooney Style 3 Size 2 that sheds, and breaks hairs once in a while. I've had it a year now and its been doing this since the first week.

It's a good brush, but I probably wouldn't get another Rooney bacause of this.

I have a 1/2 that I use almost daily and I think it has shed about one hair a month.

Thanks everyone for the advice about the shedding. It's only my second brush and my other shed 1 or 2 per week.

I'll contact the vendor..... guess it means I'll have to put up with the stink of a new brush then
