What's new

Rooney Heritage 2 band.

I haven't read or seen much chatter about this brush especially considering the glut of 2 bands that have become available recently.
Price isn't to far off a CH1 2 band and yet I've seen quite a few of those posted.
What gives? Anybody have one that would like to comment?

I had a Rooney Heritage Stubby 2 in the new "Two-band", and I was very, very disappointed with it.

It had no backbone, was not dense at all, and had a tall loft on it that made it very floppy.
When lathering, the tips splayed out and it felt much too big on my face due to the poor quality of the knot. I've got a CH2, and even that massive brush felt manuverable and well-controlled compared to this mop.

I know I'm being pretty harsh, but for $155 I would not recommend this brush to anyone.

Wow, and here I was thinking this would be the king of backbone. I am curious as to how the Stubby 1 compares.

It's much different from the 3-band Heritage hair. I have a Stubby 1 with the 2-band and I do like the brush, but will I buy another one?... Probably not. Not because I don't enjoy it though.

I was expecting something even more dense than my Emillion I have with the old 3-band, but I didn't find that when I used it, but it quickly found it's way into my heart when I face lathered with it. I tried it time to time before and it was okay, but with this brush it was just a pure joy, and while I might enjoy face lathering with other brushes now, in the back of my mind I'm kind of always comparing it to this brush.

Hard to describe this brush. Was it what I was expecting? No. Am I pleased with it nonetheless? Yes. Do I have a desire to try other brushes with this type of hair? Probably not. It might just have to do with it didn't meet my initial expectations, but I found something at which it went beyond it, and now I don't want to be disappointed.

I would recommend it for consideration, but this is definitely different from the old heritage hair which makes me sad won't be available AFAIK when the Limited Edition Stubbies all sell up.

Yeah, that's what I assumed too when I bought it :thumbdown

I think a Stubby 1 would be better - the smaller knot and shorter loft would have helped to address some of the complaints I had with the Stubby 2.

This is what makes me so disappointed in these new brushes! The old Rooney Heritage brushes were some of the best out there! Now it seems that the Heritage hair actually offers much less than the Super.

A two-band Stubby 1 in Super is the best brush for me, plenty of backbone but no scritchiness, big enough to hold more than enough lather for three passes without any floppiness or mopiness. In a word - perfection :) All my other brushes (all Rooneys - two in Finest, a Super and a Best) will soon be listed on BST... I haven't tried a three band Stubby however and can't comment on it.

Interesting range of experiences. I have a Victorian in the "standard" heritage bristle and its as dense as they come and has plenty of backbone while being very soft at the tips.

The 2-band heritage was sold as being "almost as good as finest" but less expensive as I recall. It's hard to beat Rooney's finest IMO.

...and to top it off I've just sold my old Heritage CH2 Super because I've never really liked that much.

Just goes to show the brush forum should be totally ignored. LOL.

Stubby 1 in Super? Do you mean a Rooney 1/1 or a Rooney Heritage Stubby 1?
(only the 1/1 is made with the "Super" grade of hair)

I'm glad you like yours! Brush choice is pretty much 100% personal preference. And as I said earlier, I think the size 1 Rooney brushes are much better performers, so maybe if I tried one I might have a better view on Rooney Heritage.

I don't know, maybe I got a dud? It happens sometimes.
Anyway, as far as "almost as good as finest" - it doesn't even come close in my opinion, but then again no other type of hair out there can come close to Rooney Finest. Insane amount of backbone with cloud-soft tips. Blows my mind every shave.

Yep, I was referring to the Heritage Stubby 1 in Super Silvertip. I also have a Stubby 1 in Finest and prefer the Super which isn't as stiff and scritchy.

My Rooney Heritage Stubby in Finest is the best brush I own. Backbone like wire and soft tips. I understand that the finest hair is not as available as it was. It is a 2band hair but definitely not the same as the others in the Rooney line

The Heritage hair actually a different class of hair than the Rooney Super brushes.
The Rooney Heritage brushes are two-band, with softer tips and I believe are a little less dense than the Supers.

I've got a Stubby 1 in Finest as well, and that brush is pretty much the be-all end-all of brushes for me. Amazing backbone and super soft tips. Guess everyone has their own favorite brushes, there really aren't any absolute best or worst brushes, it's all opinions. YMMV after all!

I agree about the Heritage Super being different from the regular Super (I have both) and the Heritage Super knot is much denser and has more backbone, while the tips are undoubtedly softer. I would also be curious to try the 3-band Heritage Super Limited Edition but not sure if they are different enough from the regular 2-Band Super to warrant buying yet another brush :)

Glad to hear this, as I have a Victorian inbound...

Denser and has more backbone?
Wow, I am glad that you are posting in this thread - it seems that we have had the exact opposite experience with the new Heritage hair.
It seems that either you got the best of the lot, or I got the worst!
Man, I wish some other members would come chime in on the differences between the two brushes, this issue has me completely floored!

I also have the Victorian in the older 3 band Super grade, as well as the two band small Beehive. Without question, the Victorian has an unbelievably dense knot, but very soft tips. I find it a bit too dense, as it can be a real lather hog. The two band Beehive was very deceptive at first. Dry, the bristles feel very stiff and very prickly at the tips. Wet, though, the backbone is still there, but the tips softened up, as if by magic, and this was with no break in required. I prefer the Beehive, but you can't go wrong with the 3 band hair in the Heritage line either. I'm curious how the hair in brushes with smaller knots performs.
