What's new

Rooney distributors

I'm looking to buy a new Rooney brush,Not sure which one but I am struggling to find a supplier who can offer me a decent range for which to chose from. Can anyone help?

Truefitt and Hill brushes are OEMed by Rooney, and a tad cheaper. But I would hold out to find a genuine Rooney rather than take one that's been re-branded.

Still no 110% proof of this and TF&H has just announced quietly that they are changing brush supplyer to another brush maker, so one should be even more careful believing TF&H brushes are made by Rooney.

Yes, the handles look identical to Rooney handles - but do you know you get the same hair type quality ?
Savile Row handles looks like they are made by Shavemac - but is the hair also from Shavemac ??

I would buy a Rooney to get a Rooney - just saying......

If Lee Sabini is still behind Rooney, we now know why TF&H are changing their brush supplyer.........Lee Sabini makes fantastic brushes, but is a pain in the arse to deal with.....

how about this email i got when i asked 1st hand about Rooney Knots in T&H brushes. Seems proof enough for me :001_smile

T&H Silvertip Badger Style I Medium, Ebony

I am looking at the above brush.

Are you able to tell me if these are still the ROONEY branded knots, that come in red boxes, or have they been switched to a new source?

"Hello Bruce,

The brush you're referring to is a Rooney-made brush.

Best Regards,"

Okay, of course I had a very good idea of that Rooney made some of them - but not all, and they are now changing to a new brush maker.
And you don't know if the brushes TF&H gets are exactly same quality as the Rooneys......you can guess, but you don't know.

The price is cheaper on the TF6H, maybe for a reason, maybe just for the names sake - you don't know :001_tongu

I will rather own the real thing - but that's just me :blushing:

In the UK, the only supplier I know of is Executive Shaving, and they only have two brushes. They used to have more (I've bought three Rooney brushes from them) but they've been on sale for a while and they're clearly getting rid of stock. I've really no idea what's happening to the brand, but it looks like it's disappearing from the UK.

And be careful if you go for a T&H brush, as their brushes are not all made by Rooney - I believe the ones shaped like a Rooney model 3 on the US site are, but the rest are not.

so basically, Rooney, despite being one of the oldest brush makers in the UK, has no website as such to speak of, no contact details and no on line distributor. It seems as though they want ro remain elusive, forever out of the reach of your average joe. Shame really, I wanted to buy one. Vullfix here we come..

Yep, they've always been like that as far as I can tell - strangely secretive.

I much prefer this business model compared to the "in your face" of some others.

I've also seen a couple online vendors carrying them, so not sure what the above comment was regarding.

anyway, they are worth sourcing out as they are great brushes. Good luck whatever you choose.

T&H say my Silvertip 1/2 is made by Rooney, it looks like a Rooney, it feels like my other Rooney, it's not like any other brush I have other manufacturer. So, this is enough for me to accept its a Rooney.

My simple truth that matters is that if I wasn't restricted by my participation in the sabbatical group, T&H 1/2 would be one of the only two brushes that I would buy a backup of. The other one is Kent BK8.

From T&H:

Me:
I would like to order the large onyx silvertip shave brush. Can you tell me if it is a Rooney brush branded with Truefitt and Hill?
Thanks for your time!

Patten

Hello Patten,
We use a variety of Hardware suppliers who make our branded products to spec. The quality and workmanship for our brushes, Silvertip or otherwise is among the best in the industry.

Best Regards,
Todd Fisher

FWIW, I got the brush, it has 'gel tips' and I love it, Rooney or not. Whatever company made it did an exceptional job, very dense knot and gorgeous faux-jade handle.
