Rooney 3/1 Super

Just tried out my brand new Rooney 3/1 Super from Vintage Blades. First impression is that this is a quality brush. It is soft but yet not floppy and has plenty of backbone to give your face a good scrubbing. The only fault that I can find is that the lather tends to be kept in the center of the brush and not on the tips. It is as though it is soaked up and does not come out to the tips. On a 3 pass shave, I actually had to relather the brush on the soap and give it another go on the 3rd pass. Anyone else have this experience or can chime in with a suggestion?

You might find with denser brushes that you need to "milk" them for the lather that hides in the knot for your last pass. Can't say I recall that problem a lot with my 3/1 when I had it...

give it some time....all the brushes I have tried have done this initially but dont' worry - they will come around with bountiful slick lather :)

The 3/1 is probably one of my favourite brushes for RELEASING lather. Give it time...it's a great brush for face-lathering or using with a bowl...that tall handle makes it one of the most comfortable brushes I own.

The Rooney 3/1 in super is one of my favorite brushes. I've had it for a while, and I don't remember if it hogged lather in the beginning, but it doesn't hog lather at all these days. Great brush. Enjoy!

Its an awesome brush and I haven't noticed it hogging lather either. Im sure if you break it in a little more it may solve the problem.

That is a fantastic brush, my brother has one, and I'm jealous of the little thing. I am sure some day I'll pick one up for myself.

When I upgraded from a 3/1 Pure to 3/1 Super, I noticed the lather hogging as well. It's probably indicative of all high density brushes. Just remember that the Super has more lather holding capacity, so load up the brush as much as you can! To take advantage of the hidden lather, I'll splay the brush as I face lather, and for the last pass, I'll squeeze out the remaining lather using my index finger and thumb and paint it onto my face.
