Roasted Duck 2

I call it Roasted Duck 2 because no too long ago a member on straight razor place got a hold of one.

I recieved my Dubl Duck Wonderedge only to find that it had been introduced to some kind of heat. On one side of the blade the color looks like motor oil mixed in water (that rainbow color). On the other side along the whole edge from front to back is the same kind of color but darker (more burnt looking). The heel looked like it had been re-worked to take out a larger nick or chip. Holding the blade up it looks like it has a slight dip in the middle. Holding it against my honing stone the light shines through on three distinct spots. The blade also appears to be slightly twisted. I honed it on 100 grit to take off most of the metal and then gave it numerous laps on the 4K, 8K, diamond strop and pasted paddle. No luck. Woke up this morning and gave it another try on the 4K. It made a little progress, but will not hold a good edge. If your looking to buy a Wonderedge pretty soon PM me first so I can see if your getting the one I had (the seller may put it back up). The pics the seller posted do not show the discoloration since the flash of the camera lights up the whole blade.

Try some orange sauce or cherry sauce on a Norton 4k.

sorry to say this but, if the temper colours have been drawn, its not a hard razor anymore, and to heat it up and re temper you will probably lose a fair bit of metal to the scale, you should destroy or display this razor, cause it would really suck if somenoob got it and it turned him off straight shaving,

Sorry to hear that. Depending upon what you paid for the razor there is a level of disclosure for defects -- we're not talking about a fistfull of eBay specials here... :thumbdown

Well I am getting my money back on this one, but you are right there almost always seems to be problems.
