Just got news that Lou Henson, University of Illinois Men's Basketball head coach from 1975 to 1996 (my hometown) has passed. He was a real gentleman, a great coach and a very nice man too. I was never into sports as a kid, but Henson sparked my interest and got me following the team. My older brothers and their friends idolized the man too, and would refer to each other as variations of the name Lou and most everyone in our neighborhood began referring to the U of I as Lou U. On a lighter note, he was also famous for his orange and blue leisure suits in the 1970's and one of the most careful comb-overs in sports.
