RIP Carl Reiner

The term "genius" gets bandied about too frequently and tends to water down the impact, but Carl Reiner was a true comedic powerhouse, writing, directing, acting, the whole package. He lived a long life passing at 98, but his sense of humor and creativity will be sorely missed by a world in desperate need of a good laugh.

Apparently Carl Reiner lived next door to Mel Brooks and the two had dinner together most evenings. Jerry Seinfeld had them on his "comedians in cars getting coffee."

Was he with Dick Van Dyke? May Carl rest in peace.
He was the creator of "The Dick van Dyke Show." A pilot was done before with essentially the same premise - it was called "Head of the Family" with Carl Reiner in the role of Robert Petrie. You can access it on Hulu.

I grew up running home from school for lunch to watch The Flintstones and the Dick Van Dyke Show which he created of course. When he appeared as Alan Brady he was brilliant.
