After boiling water for my makeshift scuttle, I fill a mug halfway with what's left. I use it rinse the razor between strokes. Doing so makes the razor nice and hot, which I find to cut better (could be my imagination). It also conserves water. It tends to get a little cloudy from the lather, though. Can this damage my razor/blade? After the shave, I rinse the razor head/blade in rubbing alcohol, is this a good way to clean it?

Your procedures seem fine to me!
concerning the cleaning just use a used toothbrush and rub your razor under hot tub water. In 2-3 minutes your razor will be brand new

Thanks for the feedback, learning new stuff every shave!
I put 91% alcohol in an empty used small eyeglass cleaner sprayer and just spray the razor before I put it in the stand. I use less alcohol than a bath and it seems to work great.
