I'll take two. I'm just starting out in straight shaving but I'm sure a razor like that would give me better shaves than my antique store finds.
It really is a ridiculous price for a razor. I don't like the scales either. They just don't look right to me for some reason.
Time to remortgage the house for one of these!
Just get some of your relatives to sell a kidney. They'll understand and you wont have to remortgage the house.
High Price does not equal high quality/ best shave.
See the horrible reformulations of English Fern by Penhaligon's, and Floris No. 89 for example.
That looks like a clown straight to me: the scales look like garbage, and the 3 pin pivot point looks equally wretched. Not impressive at all!!
And all from a measly 30 grand. The pivot does look terrible.
I could have bought that instead of paying for my masters!
That razor was made by Hommage. The scales are actually plated in platinum apparently. They have other shaving sets at more reasonable prices. They are however cartridge razors and over engineered in my opinion.

I think that has something to do with the fact that the blade is Damascus Steel.
I had a pocket knife that was Damascus Steel. It was a beautiful piece of work. The Straight Razor is a bit overkill though.

My chemistry teacher have some knives which are med of some sort of ceramic, and the CANT go dull. Fact (with modifications). (And they dont make the machine beep on the airport ^^)

If you are in Europe it's only 330 which is about $465 so it would interesting to see where the extra 200 bucks comes from.
The Art of Shaving has a silvertip brush in a sterling silver handle for $1200 (on sale for $600). The most expensive soap I'm aware of is Martin de Candre.
