REVIEW | Amakuni ~ X1 Slant ~ Vector

Would love your input regarding the Amakuni and the Spirit. If possible, using the Feather Pros or P30 blades.
I'll get a few shaves in with each, and report back, I have the Feather Pro Guard in each right now, but I'll switch it up. First Shave I did with each produced very similar results. The obvious differences so far are the weight (Amakuni is notably more robust, but very good balance) and the position of the head. Both maneuver easily, and both feel as you would expect regarding quality. Ill throw a Pro in and get some shaves in. I like the feel of blades after a shave or two, so it may be a few days before I am able to convey adequate impressions.

Take your time brother. I have the Spirit and the only thing that would get me to buy an Amakuni if it's a smoother plus more efficient than the Spirit.

My initial impressions are absolutely. I started with the Spirit today WTG, and switched to the Amakuni after the first pass. Amakuni definitely feels more natural to find the angle, more efficient for me, and much easier to maneuver in tight spots. This was my third shave with the Amakuni, and 1.5 with the Spirit, I’ll hit several more shaves to ensure I give it a fair shake, but I’m thinking I may throw the Spirit back out on the market.

Akamuni’ing 🙌

Fantastic with 12th use Proline (And then binned) 😎

I go very shallow so the blade life increases. I find AC blades smooth out after first couple of uses then settle in. Eventually the blade starts to dull - usually between 10-15 for me 🤷🏼‍♂️
I go super shallow with AC razor too. I think that's why I prefer it over a lot of my DEs is because I'm a shallow shaver. The P30 does seem to have a longer lifespan than say the Feathers and definitely the Kais.

I shaved with a Schick Proline P-30 in the Vector today, and it was fantastic. I haven't used a P-30 in some time as I was focused on familiarizing myself thoroughly with the Feather blades. Next, I will use the P-30 in the Amakuni, followed by the Above the Tie X-1 to further hone in on the differences between these three excellent AC razors. In the Vector, I would put the P-30 right between the Feather Professional and the Super for blade feel and efficiency. The shave was nick-free, and very close while being more forgiving than the Super.

Same for me, I use blade buffing strokes, and this thing just keeps getting smoother and better, I’m at about 8 shaves, and it still plowed through three data of growth, and I have dense sandpaper for facial hair

My Amakuni arrived today. Outstanding shipping speed too!
This thing looks so nice and has a good weight and feel to it. Can’t wait to try it out. Curious to see how it compares to the Shield AC and the Vector Ti.

I shaved a fortune
@RRGGMM , now that you have quite a few Amakuni shaves under your belt, I'd love to a recent comparison with your ATT X1. You gave a pretty detailed description of your experience with it... but I wonder how it will feel now that you've been enjoying the Amakuni...Thanks in advance. <eg>

Just received my Amakuni hours ago and immediately put it to work on a head and face shave. I've been using the Feather Super with the Alpha Spirit extensively so I thought I'd try it on the Amakuni as well. Didn't take long to get the angle and it with the Super, the Amakuni and the Spirit give similar shaves. Deep efficient shave with minimal irritation for a BBS. It shaves slightly more neutral than the shallow shave of the Spirit. I give the Spirit a slight edge due to being the nimbler razor and it gets my sensitive neck closer than the Amakuni. Will be putting the Amakuni through the paces with the regular Feather Pro and Proline.

That being said, I've always believe the AC format is the better razor design and the Amakuni gave me an awesome first shave way more than any other DEs I've tried.
