Reverse shim?!?

I understand using a shim under a blade raises the blade, and creates a more aggressive razor due to increased distance from bar to blade...

My question is; is the opposite also true? Would a shim above a blade push the blade down towards the bar & create a less aggressive razor?!?

I have tried it both ways. A full shim (supporting the whole top cap) raises the top cap and makes the razor less aggressive, a narrow shim flattens the top cap bottom and forces the blade to bend less, flaring it up and exposing the blade more as the top cap does not rise significantly. See this other post, an OC with narrow shim on top.

Took some pictures on a Lord L6. Clearly the narrow shims creates more exposure with a different angle. And I think the 3 large shims hides the blade because it raises the top cap.
