Return to M3 for me!

Just for a week or two. My bathroom is being remodelled and is currently in pieces. So now 4 people must shower every morning using one bathroom. That gives me about 5 minutes to shave. The only way to do that is with a cart, so I dug out my last M3. I tried shaving at night, but the stubble starts to irritate my skin half way through the day.
I'm looking at this as an experiment. I have not shaved with an M3 on consecutive days since January 2013. I'm curious to see how it goes after 5 consecutive days (I'll use a DE on the weekends).

Not sure what I would do in that situation as I don't even own any cartridges anymore.

Are you also using canned shaving gel?

I like using those cheap Bic razors with the white strip when I can't use my trusty DE. They work just as good as the M3, if not better.

Returning to M3 for a week or so is a good thing. Will make you realize how much you miss DE shaving.

Does your job require you to be clean shaven?

If not, just don't shave for the duration of your remodel.

You could go for shaving in the evening, and a quick touch up in the morning?

When I only have a few minutes to shave I bust out my bakelite slant and use Barbasol. Aggressive enough razor to take a LOT off during 1 pass. Good enough for a night of work at a factory, anyway.

Other than my wife, the other two people in the house are teen-aged boys. Mercifully, all 3 of them are reasonably fast in the bathroom. I'm usually the slow one!

I agree. In the old days, I had a lot of trouble making it 5 straight days w/o significant irritation. We'll see how I do this week. My only soap will be a La Toja shave stick. No brush.

I'd go with one of those single blade bic disposables. No goo strips. Only one blade so no extra blades dragging across your face and causing ingrown hairs. Nice and simple.

Just turn in and get up earlier and use your DE. Life can be so uncertain. What if something happen to you at work. Would you want your last shave to be with a M3?

That was going to be my 2nd point, thanks Christian! This is a viable option. Even if you have fast growth, you will still have a SAS for the workday and you didn't have to sacrifice your face to a cart.

I tried that. It doesn't work for me. I would indeed have a SAS the next day, but the tiny stubble irritates my face. Someone else suggested shaving at night then doing a touch up in the morning. That is a possibility. I'm gonna stick with the M3 this week as a scientific experiment. Next week I may try something else. I'm counting on the old (sappy) adage: "distance makes the heart grow fonder." Just think how happy I'll be on Saturday when I get to return to my DEs!

While the theory sounds good, I've found those single bladed carts don't shave worth the three cents it costs to make them...

I have shaved once with one of these. I remember having tossed the rest of the package contents, no idea why I didn't do the same with the one I had used, it just escaped its well deserved destiny. It is now in my colelction, sitting there strictly for display only.

DE "starving" indeed! My biggest impression after Day 3 of M3 shaving is: it's boring. I'm gonna finish the 5-day run and then figure something else out. The only viable option is probably to shave at night and do touch-up in the morning, as johant suggested.
