Hi, i have this old wood handle from my father. It would be my first try. The bottom seems eaten out by water, darkened by time, tiny wood cracks, but i can fix that with putty, plus sand before and after and re-paint. Now, should i drill it out all the way to the red, or does that black "neck collar" need to be kept? It definitely isn't part of the red, it's another element. Tried forcing it out with a knife edge, no success. I assume i don't need to keep that half sphere (which feels like wood) from the middle. Since it just held down the old brush hairs. Or is the handle a cheap one and not worth restoring? It could be a Proraso, or an Omega, but it is surely 15 yeard old minimum.
