I imagine replating something like a Merkur HD would be fairly easy because there are no mechanics involved, just solid pieces. How does replating on an adjustable (like a Fatboy or Slim) work, when there are some complex internals to consider?
I'd love to see some pictures when you are done. I guess my question is, don't they fully dip the razors in the metal? Would this tend to get inside of the razor and mess up the razor's innards?
The TTO's were originally plated fully assembled, and they are replated the same way.
Interesting! I have been wondering about this questions myself. Would be concerned that the added depth of replating, at least in some areas like the door hinges, would perhaps cause binding/tightness. Perhaps that was enough tolerance to begin with to preclude that. Or does the replating process involve removal of old plating first?
