Repairing Alum Block

I dropped my Art of Shaving alum block and it broke into about 8 pieces. Is there a practical way to stick it back together?

I am hoping to salvage it as I spent WAY too much money on it, lol

Nope-no way to repair; however, you should be able to purchase 3-4 blocks from tulumba.com for what you paid for your AOS one(shipping included.)

You can use them in a nice home-brew aftershave splash...grind some up (not too much though) and dissolve it in some witch hazel, add a little bit of menthol crystals (have to be dissolved in alcohol though), some aloe, glycerin, and a tiny scent of your choice (EO or FO), and you're all set. You don't have to use ALL of that stuff though, just whatever works for you.

Sorry that happened to you.

Shave X Alum Block @ Mama Bear

I hear good things about the ShaveX block, and I'm guessing it's a few dollars cheaper than the AoS.

Mama Bear is one of the vendors that sells it.

I just got a ShaveX block yesterday, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet.

Dropped mine too after a bout a year. It was getting a little thin. Found the same size bar at 1/2 the price at the local Indian grocery.

Dropped mine last week (the $8 Mama Bear version) and just took off a corner. It is sharp, but wet sanded smooth in a couple strokes. Threw the small piece in the dopp for travel ..

I've just been using a stick of alum crystal deodorant on my face. Not very expensive as I recall.

It's exactly the same stuff after all, it doesn't even have a fragrance.
