Removing the blade?

At somepoint in my wetshaving research it was mentioned to remove the blade after every shave. Seem like a pain. Not sure if it is truly necessary? Any thoughts?

I surely don't, but then again I don't polish mine with the pelt of a chimera after every use, as some do. It's a razor, I shave and then put it down until I want to swap it or use it again. I clean up any I used once every few weeks (yes it does take a little while).

I use TTO razors, so I quickly remove the blade and pat it dry against a cloth/towel. Didn't do this at first but realised that not all "stainless" steel blades are made the same; some get rust spots. The rust probably doesn't affect shave performance but I'm OCD like that.

For the most part I try and only keep one blade active until 3 shaves and then pitch it. I don't take them out.

LOL, no wonder I wasn't getting the same results, I was merely using the pelt of a unicorn!

I don't remove the blade. It would be a major pain on a three piece razor. My thought is that since I will only use it for three shaves, why bother trying to remove excess moisture that will dull the blade if it's going into my razor bin.

I would think rust spots would appear if you use the blade for quite some time, but I've personally never seen a rust stain, even on my SE blades (which I tend to keep for 6 shaves).

I take apart my razor and rinse each part including the blade, then dry them with a towel and put it all back together.

It's just nice starting each shave with a clean setup.

I just shake it dry and wipe it down when I'm done... I'll take the blade out and clean the razor with a toothbrush whenever I switch blades every 3-4 shaves.

I shave with a 3-piece (EJ89). I loosen the handle. Run hot water to make sure all the soap and stubble is gone. I then blow on it to get rid of moisture. I tighten the handle and dry it on my shower towel to get rid of any residual moisture and shine the chrome. Takes 10 seconds.

I use shavettes and use a drop of oil on the shavette and blade when I put one in but don't take the blade out between shaves and I notice stainless steel blades do rust inside when left in there.
It could be because the blade has been snapped in half, exposing bits of uncoated metal. Also the shavettes hold the blade tightly so water can get in and not dry or be shaken out so maybe it doesn't happen so much with DE razors.
As long as the exposed edge is dry I don't mind.

I don't remove the blade either. Just rinse the razor, shake it dry and put it resting until next morning. I clean the razor (dish soap, old tooth brush) when I change the blade (Feather), which happens every seven days.

I only do this with carbon steel blades. It isn't necessary with stainless blades - unless you're in the habit of shaving with salt water :)
