Removing scales from a Gold dallor

Hi,
What is the best way to remove Gold dallor scales, and be able to save or reuse the scales I'm going to try my hand again at a regrind, and later I plan to make scales, but for now I may use the same scales.

Yup. Same idea . File the head flat and make a center divot if you can to keep the bit from skating around. Another helpful tip is to bury most of the bit in the chuck as 1/16th bits flex a lot! This makes it more rigid. Set the scales on a block of wood so you can manipulate them to keep the bit from wandering by rocking/ tipping etc.

Well you did ask for the best way and that is it. Not knowing what tools you have I can just keep shooting in the dark.
Files can get pretty close to knocking the mushroom off the pin. The scales being plastic may just work off for the most part. Maybe.
A dremel will work too .
Do you have any friends/family that may have some resources like a press?

Got lucky with dead badgers
maybe you should consider that if you are successful at modifying the razor into something beautiful why would you put those butt ugly scales back on
and if unsuccessful you no longer need them
just a thought :em2300:

I have used a hand drill as well. File flat then use an awl to create a divot.
Flush cutters work well too but can cause the scales to crack. Use carefully!
