Remove dried up blood droplets from face - How?

Hey guys,

Sometime I notice the next day after a shave that there was some weepers that bled and that the blood dried up, mostly on my mustache area. It looks ugly and unsightly (tiny little red dots), especially before a date.

Washing it with warm water and soap doesn't get rid of the problem!

How do you guys deal with the dried up dried droplets and weepers?

I always was taught by mama that leaving the scabs on helps the wound heal, so that's what I do.

Sorry I don't have any advice. I know they don't look nice :tongue_sm

Yeah- the alum block is a milder styptic than the typical styptic pencil, so it works for weepers pretty well but not nicks, and you can rub it all over to make sure you don't miss any- like carpet bombing vs. a cruise missile.

I use regular alum powder you find at a supermarket. For weepers, a bit of powder, for nicks make a paste from it. A $2-3 can or jar will last forever.

As the others have said, hit weepers with styptic or alum as soon as you've rinsed.

If you still have some little red dottage, some witch hazel on a cotton ball should do the trick pretty well. Try to do it sometime after you've finished with your normal post-shave routine, but before you go to bed. Part of the reason they're difficult to remove is that they've had all night to setup and harden.

Cheers!

Hydrogen peroxide worked for me on the scabbing of a surgical wound. Actually, a soaking with warm water (wash cloth) would work but the peroxide helps prevent infection, which is the purpose of the scab that you are removing.

I'm careful to check for weepers and treat them with a styptic because if they do scab over they tend to open up again on the next shave.

All right, so hydrogen or soaking in hot water.

See my problem is that I shave before bed, and I don't have any visible blood. They weepers must have bled in the night or something...

One little trick which might sound a bit gross. If you have a small cut licking your finger and wiping the blood away helps it to heal faster and stop bleading, a bit like styptic. something in your saliva promotes the healing. That is why animals lick their wounds.

i use a dedicated face wash or scrub and after a wash this removes dried blood and looks fine.Works great for me

Shave again?

First off, don't wash up blood and cuts with warm/hot water. Use cold. Cold water is your number one astringent. Sometimes you'll find yourself without a styptic pen or alum, then use cold water, loads of it. Or ice cubes.

The ice cold water followed by a full pass or two with the alum block and then air dry should stop these weepers.

If I'm reading this correctly your not seeing any weepers after your shave they are showing up later while your sleeping. I have a similar issue where they show up hours after a shave. I have wondered about this for some time. I've considered it being due to my aspirin therapy thinning my blood. Are you on any medications that would thin your blood as well?

Wow!

I thought I was the only one with that problem.

Yeah, sometimes that happens to me.

I shave with no weepers or nicks then next morning hello.

Also, I do take aspirin daily.

Wonder if that may have something to do with it.?

I use a liquid styptic that's available at most barber shops. That stops the bleeding right away, and then I do my regular cleanup routine. Hot, then cold water, witch hazel, followed by an after shave balm. Doing this routine takes care of any bleeding, and doesn't leave a scab. :thumbup1:
