Remington 1911 R-1???

Do any of you fine folks have or know someone who has one of these Remington 1911s ... if so, any thoughts, comments or critiques?

With Remington’s current rebate, some dealers are offering the .45 ACP for as little as $404.

I am following this thread. Although it may wait until next year, I intend to add a more compact daily carry in the future. This may not fit the need, but is of interest.

I shot weekly steel pistol matches a couple of years ago with a man who used a Remington. He never had any problems with it.

Shot one a while back. Nothing exceptional. Guy had weird cast aluminum grips on it. Made the gun rather uncomfortable in the hand. That was what I remember most.

Remington bought and killed Para USA. I wonder how much of Para still exists within the Remington 1911s. Admittedly Para was a shell of its former self after leaving Canada, quality and availability took a big hit.
