What's new

Remember I asked where I can get a brush handle made?

I little while ago, I asked where I can get a brush handle made from acrylic to use with the Golden Nib synthetic/nylon brush knot.

Once responder was Rudy Vey and we discussed a few ideas. Of course, the persian jar was high on my list but I also found a glass jar that I thought would be fun to have as a handle. Here's the picture I sent to Rudy:

And here's what he came up with:

Really quite impressive!

Next Rudy gave the Persian Jar a go in fake ivory:

All in all I am pretty pleased with the new brush handles I have. Now we have to see how the knot performs!

Just when I thought the game was over, a very generous B&Ber gave my wish for a Persian Jar a go and produced something that I can only describe as incredibly sexy!

What can I say - isn't she delicious? A handle that you just want to lick :tongue_sm

:w00t: I love the first brush especially! Amazing how well it goes with the Georgetown scuttle! I could see Rudy getting asked by Georgetown to make brushes for them! :w00t:

the first brush, the glass jar one has a wonderfully art deco quality to it. it's stunning something i would love to own myself.

Siv:

Rudy did a great job.

Thanks for the delicious comment.

Just wanted to show some persians in ivory I have done. I may have to copy the glass jar. You have an eye for what makes a great brush.

I am very surprised at how much the glass jar is liked. I just picked it on a whim!

Mason, the Jessica Rabbit brush is great though, really really nice. I like the way she looks and it's the one I use. The narrow handle but broad base allows me to get a good grip on the brush but also to allow it to move when I'm beating the lather. Works really well for me. Thank you!

I see you are experimenting more - great work. Do have a go at the glass jar - it will be interesting to see your interpretation.

if fact would it be possible to get a copy of that brush handle?

I did a line drawing for the glass jar as well. I'll post it up here. Then you can get your favourite brush maker to turn you one!

Siv's drawing was helpful when I made the "Glass Jar" handle, a quite different type of handle, and it was fun to make, too!

Wow, I really like the first one, if you dont mind me asking, how much was it to get it made? I'd be really interested in one myself!

BEAUTIFUL work Rudy, and as usual I might add!

FYI Rudy, the Kent that you restored for me is really progressing wonderfully. The slight scratchiness evident at first has completely disappeared, and there have been almost no stray hairs. I'm even happier with it than ever!

For those of you considering a custom or restored brush, I can't recommend Rudy's work highly enough. He's a master craftsman, a great communicator, and a fantastic guy all-around.
