Refrigerating aftershaves?

Hey, all:

I just experimented by putting my Speick AS splash in the fridge while shaving and then put it on and I have to admit, it did a hell of a job cooling my face. The Speick is excellent enough on its own but since it's been getting humid lately I wanted to get a cooling kick from the Speick. The cooling sensation was really heavenly.

Now that I have taken it out of the fridge and back into the room-temperature cabinet, does taking this aftershave, or any balm or splash for that matter, from a fridge to room temperature affect the qualities of the product itself? Does this shorten the life or change its "chemistry."

Thanks.

I've never tried refrigerating aftershaves, but I've noticed that when I take along a bottle of cologne when I go to a nightclub, and leave it in the car during cold weather, it seems to deliver more "kick."

I usually step out to my car to have a cigarette after my first drink, and spray on a little cologne to cover up the smell of smoke. When that cologne has been sitting in the cold, it seems to be stronger than it is during the summer.

Another little trick I use is to keep my colognes and aftershaves out of direct light. For something in an opaque bottle like Tabac, its no problem. But for my Musgo Real Classic ASL, it always goes back into the box between uses. For another cologne in a clear bottle that I have no box for, I just keep it in an old black sock to protect it from light.

No.
Cooling an aftershave or ASB or a splash and re-warm it to room temperature should not effect to product. Some ASB contain fat. They are an emusion and they can seperate when cooled and taking back to room temperature. If that happens shake it up and it should be fine again. Aftershaves and splashes are mostly alcoholic solutions. They will not seperate.

Keeping this products cool sustains the shelf life. None of these should be kept too warm (above 30C) for a longer period. Volatile aroma chemicals evaporate or some ingredients decompose more easily over time when cosmetic products are kept too warm.

Second that. Should be no issues to worry about unless it is a rapid change back and forth, which isn't happening with putting the splash in the fridge and then back on the shelf.

Also a second, as I have been unfortunate enough to suffer the effects of humidity, and all three of my splashed seem to have lost both the feel and smell I had come to love so much. Now, everyday is a sad day:frown:

I haven't tried it with any aftershaves, but I do keep a bottle of DaVinci water in the fridge. Its quite pleasant to spray on for a "pick-me-up", too bad I don't remember to use it more often.
