What's new

Reflixcommend me a TV Show.

I enjoy watching sports especially college football but I do enjoy a good tv show. These days its all about the reality show which I am not a big fan of. I enjoy watching streaming tv shows or renting/buying whole seasons. I like shows that have an on going storyline (I don't know if that is the correct terminology).
Any recommendations based on my favorite shows below.

-Lost (Started watching on Hulu and I am on season 4. i love it. I am bummed that the 4th, 5th, & 6th season are not as long as the first 3. And I think that the 6th season is the final :( )
-Jericho (Don't see why they canceled after 2 seasons.)
-Prison Break
-Heroes
-Dexter
-24
-Burn Notice
-Sopranos
-Sons of Anarchy
-Vanished (Canceled but had great potential)
-Traveler (Canceled but had great potential)

Lost is probably my favorite but I enjoy them all. CSI I never got into. It doesn't seem like an ongoing story line that much. Same with NCIS and Bones (I occasionally watch Bones though).

I am open to new and old tv shows.

"Quincy M.E." with Jack Klugman. Most of the episodes are stand alone. But are great, if you are fan of Klugman you will love this show. I watched when I was much younger and still remember some of them. One classic episode guest stared Buddy Hackett trying to leave a quarantined Reno hotel.

I recommend the HBO miniseries for quality, character-driven entertainment. My wife and I just finished John Adams (which was great) and are now watching Rome (also great). Deadwood and Carnivale are also highly recommended.

HBO's The Wire is the best television show I've ever seen or even heard of. I usually don't watch TV, but so many people, people I respect in other areas of life, recommended it so highly that I downloaded all five seasons.

I took about a year to watch them all, and when it was all done, wow. I wanted to start over. Three of the five seasons are amazing, all five are great, and one is, in my opinion, genuinely historically important literature. In fact, I'm convinced that in a couple hundred years students will be watching and analyzing this series to understand a bit about the human condition and how we cope with our frailties in society, just as we read Shakespeare today.

I didn't know it was possible for TV to do those things. I really didn't.

I just started watching True Blood.

Takes place in rural Louisiana, vampires have "outed" themselves and now (most of them) drink artificial blood in an attempt to mainstream into normal life.

The show centres around a waitress who can hear people's thoughts, and finds that she enjoys the company of vampires because they're dead and she can't hear their thoughts.

I realize as I type this it sounds like a horrible show, but it's written by Alan Ball who wrote among other things American Beauty and the show Six Feet Under and in true HBO style has tons of nudity, sex, drugs, violence and rock & roll. Plus a very addictive storyline.

In two nights my girlfriend and I have watched about half of the first season, and season two starts on Sunday.

Why are Battlestar Galactica, Leverage, Psych, and Firefly not on your list?

I guess they are not on because I have never watched them. Is Firefly only 1 season?
I never have been into starwars or star trek. Is Battestar Galactica similar? The original or the new version?

Someone else recommended John Adams and Carnivale.

True blood sounds really cool. I canceled HBO. Anywhere else I can few past episodes of True blood, Carnival, and John Adams?

I'm really enjoying watching the Shield at the moment. I've worked
my way through the first 5 boxsets over the last few weeks and I already
have the last two seasons purchased.

I also have all seasons of The Wire to watch - but I struggled to
gmaintain my interest around episode 8-9 in Season 1. It gets great
reviews so I will give it another try after The Shield.

Like yourself I've also watched all of Lost/24/Jericho/Heroes/Prison Break.

I am referring to the new series. It's totally different than Star Wars & Star Trek. Totally. Go hunt down the miniseries and watch that. You'll know at the end whether you want to continue with the full series or not.

Have you watched Deadwood and Madmen? If you like The Sopranos they are both made by the same people.
