Does anyone know what type of paint can be used to touch up a Gillette red tip?? Also, where I can obtain some?? Thanks in advance...
I used International Harvester Red from Kyrlon and got a very good match. The paint I used came in an aersol can, and I just sprayed some in to a paper cup, and then applied it as a touch up with a brush.
Two original red tips, and a third that has had touch up with Krylon IH Red.
The paint loss was pretty much the same as seen on the razor on the left.
The one on the right was merely touched up, not stripped and not completely repainted. I merely dabbed at the worn areas with a Q-tip soaked in IH Red.
I work at a construction supply outfit, and amazingly, the day after I read a thread about the IH Red colormatch on the Red Tip, one of our accounts called for a case of IH Red Krylon.
I asked them if they were painting razors. They thought I was nuts.
I tagged along on the order, for one can. I'm pretty sure almost any hardware store that carries Krylon could order it.
I figure enough for a couple hundred, maybe a thousand.
I have a vision of me on my deathbed, croaking out my last instructions:
"Son, your oldest boy gets the Red Tip...make sure the Krylon can goes with it, so he can pass it on to his grandson....the youngest boy is kind of odd, he gets the Injector...I see a light...I think it's bright enough to shave by, fetch the Clubman Bay Rum and the 40's SuperSpeed...Yes, I AM taking that one with me...
Who wants to bet that a bunch of pristine red colored Super Speeds will now start showing up on da Bay if not the B/S/T?
