Red Tip Case Question

Does anyone have any information on the differences in these two Red Tip cases? As you see, the one has "Heavy" embossed on the lid, the other one has a paper insert that has the words "Heavy" on it.

I know the three variations of the Super Speeds being produced at this time, is where the Red Tip gets the "Heavy" moniker. Just wondering which case was produced first, and what years?

Any help?

Thanks.

Look at the band at the bottom of the Red Tip. Now look inside the bottom of the Red Tip. One will have a "Inverted screw" and one will have a lock washer. Next would be to date the cases from looking on the bottom of them and just matching them up.

The later redtips are different than the earlier ones in that the ring is closer to the TTO. Earlier redtips have one band of knurling between the ring and the TTO, whereas later ones, maybe only from 1958-59, have no knurling band below the ring. You can see the difference in the pictures at the top of the page.

Concerning the cases, I think only the 1959 redtips have a case with "heavy" embossed on it. I recently bought a D-4 (1958) redtip and it came in the normal unembossed case. Not sure if it's the original case or not. The razor itself, though, was the "new" style without the band of knurling just above the TTO.
