Red Imp horsehide strop

Just bought a Red Imp horsehide strop on ebay. I've read some favorable threads about these vintage strops, saw this one and decided to pull the trigger on it. I saw a TM horsehide here on the BST that I liked but waffled over too long and missed it. Subsequently I've had horsehide on the brain, and then this Imp turned up. It looked to be in good shape, no cuts or nicks, I could see. Seller said there was an indentation on the upper right edge from maybe the rim of a can full of coins or nails or something else heavy, that was inadvertently set on it. Said it was small, no hard edge, and that the razor would simply travel over it without needing to be sanded. Looked like he was right. In any case it's far up enough on the strop I can avoid it if I need to. Distributed by Certifyd. (They also sold Kanayamas.) The Red Imp is not shell, but I'm hoping it's nice. Been wanting a faster strop lately so I'm looking forward to giving horsehide a spin. Should have it by the end of the week, will post pics if anyone is interested.

This thread didn't go very far but here's an update if anyone was awaiting some pics and a review: Strop never arrived. Lost in the mail. Bummer!

I got moves like Jagger
Don't give up hope yet; it's only been two weeks. I've waited up to 6 or more for things to arrive.

Yes, there's always hope!! Yikes, 6 weeks? Brutal! Tracking info on the package is mysteriously empty beyond initial acceptance, but you never know. Thanks!

If you have a tracking number, send it to the USPS with a query about the package. They really are very good about following up on something like this that just falls off the radar.

I had a package go missing on the other coast after trying to be delivered to a 'bad' (old) address. I put a trace on it, they found it and returned it to me. I was out the shipping cost as I had already sent another package to the customer but the USPS returned it so at least I have the product.

It is absolutely worth asking about it- the very worst thing that could happen is that they do not find it, which is about where you are already.

It's official. Post Office lost the package. Seller has refunded my money - thankfully. Too Bad though . It was a really sweet strop in great shape, with a terrific patina, too. Oh well, wasn't meant to be. On to the next strop!

That's a real shame, clicked the thread hoping to see pics, but I guess my disappointment is far less than yours. Hopefully you snag a TM soon to make up for it.
