I also have oily skin. I would say my skin is more sensitive then most. There are a few things I did when I first started DE shaving to help myself. I got many samples of blades and determined witch blades cause me less irritation (could be my poor technique, not the blade). Once I got my blades nailed down my skin irritation went down, but I was still getting some lingering burning. I tried changing my normal aftershave balm to one with low alcohol. Yet another big improvement. Bringing me down to almost no razor burn. Last thing I did was to add Witch Hazel in after I shave (before I use my balm and AS). The Witch Hazel seems to help my skin recover from any abrasions, and improve my overall skin health (good stuff, wish I found this years ago). I think the big thing for me was the progression of finding what works, sticking with it, and making more improvements. Some where along the way my DE shaving skill has gotten better, thank goodness.

I would suggest that you add an alum bar treatment to your after shave regimen. I used to always had an area on my neck that was irritated & red which was "cured" by using alum. I got a RazorRock Alum Bar. I like how it is package. It has a plastic handle and a cover. Good luck.

I would suggest not going against the grain. Just go 2 passes and both with the grain. Try Tend Skin(or I use Bump Rx) from Sally Beauty. It should clear those bumps up in a few days.

alum / witch hazel.
$assioh37nico1.gif...I also would suggest alum. I happen to shave six (6), day a week (WTG, CTG & ATG), and alum does wonders for my face for a post-shave treatment (also great as a deo too).

I find for occasional irritated skin I use witch hazel. I actually use a product called Earth Science Problem Skin, comes in a spay bottle, and I spray 4 or 5 pumps into my hands and apply it by hand. It is a witch hazel based product, that also has other herbal extracts and does an excellent job of calming the skin down. They have a skin soother (think aftershave) and face balm. Most health food stores will order it for you. It is less than $6 a bottle. I have very sensitive skin, and use a good shave soap bowl lathered (I get irritation if I face lather) warm rinse then finish with an alum block(razo rock, or Crystal deodorant from health food store), clean my gear, then rise off alum with very cold water (add a few ice cubes in summer if water is not very cold) use the ESPS and then my daily choice of after shave and Nivia Sensitive, Earth Science balm or Porrasso face balm depending on my mood. My face is not very oily so I add a balm, you could likely leave it out. I also like to use Lucky Tiger face splash as well as an after shave if particularly irritated.
