Recommended Creams?

Hello,

I've been wet shaving for about a week, so I am very new. I thought the cream I had previously been using with my mach 3 would suffice but I'm starting to think I am wrong. What creams would you guys recommend? I would prefer ones that are available in stores and do not have menthol as an ingredient.

Peace.

If you're looking for something available in stores and don't like menthol, which rules out the Bigelow at Bath & Body Works, I'd have agree with those who say Art of Shaving is a good option. It's available at AoS stores and Nordstrom's. Good stuff, but it's also a little pricey. A lot of people like Kiss My Face, which is available in some supermarkets and pretty much every natural foods store. You can generally get a tube for around $5. Personally, I found that it didn't offer me much protection from razor burn, but a lot of people swear by it. Some people like the creams from Body Shop and Crabtree & Evelyn, but I've never tried them. That's about all I can think of in terms of stuff that you can find in brick & mortar stores.

Not sure about the "stores" requirement. That's pretty limiting. I do think, as has been suggested, the Real Shaving Company stuff at Rite-Aid is extraordinarily well-priced for such a great performing product. Scent is nothing special, but not a problem. (Mind you, I always got it for $4.99; a recent set of posts suggests it may have gone up in price).

I want to recommend gong online and trying some other creams... (TOBS Jermyn St., Spencer & Devon, the Tabac tube of cream all come to mind, for starters).

There's a Proraso cream -- aloe and green tea -- that's formulated for "sensitive skin". I don't think there's menthol in it.

Their "eucalyptus and menthol" -- _that_ has menthol!<G>

Proraso is pretty widely distributed, I think.

Alternatively, check out the Body Shop "Macca Root" cream. If menthol isn't on the list of ingredients, it's worth a try. Very nice lather.

My vote goes to Real Shaving Co. cream from Rite-Aid.. I just recently tried this and am VERY impressed with it... and for $4.99 a tube you cant really go wrong!

Dirty Donuts are so Good.
Find an Indian Grocery store in your area. See if they stock Godrej and Dettol shaving creams. Health food stores like Whole Foods or GNC's will/should have 'Kiss My Face' creams.

Macca root shaving cream from the Body Shop is a favorite of mine. The Real Shaving Co cream is also a good performer, it is available in Rite Aid pharmacies in the USA ( I am not sure where you are located ).

Do a search in your local area for Kiss My Face shaving creams. Normally sold in health food type stores. Lot's of different scents to choose from. Comes in a handy pump bottle. Pretty good stuff IMO.
