Recommendations - new heavier grind straights

Afternoon all! So I'm maybe 60 shaves and 8 straights into my newly-formed SR habit, and I feel like I've got a decent idea of what I prefer. Having tried a few different half - full hollow ground razors, my favourite by far is a beaten up, old Joseph Allen & Sons, which is a pretty heavy, thick beast. It's not a looker but I much prefer the feel of this grind over anything hollower.

I'm very content with it for now but I'd like to buy a shiny new equivalent. Most current manufacturers to offer mainly hollow ground stuff (e.g. Ralf Aust seems to just do hollow ground). Portland Razor Co is one that seems to fit the bill, offering quarter ground new razors, but I'm sure there are others. So, wise elders of B&B, who should I be looking at? All suggestions welcome!

If you want a heavier version of a hollow ground blade .Wacker's tend to be a bit heavier and deliver great performance .

Most of the current custom razor makers will make what ever grind you could want. A lot of them will mostly do quarter and half hollow grinds. I have a few from Snailforge, a Brian Brown and a Max Sprecher. All good razors one could use for a lifetime of use and pass on to others. Google is your friend and asking here is good also. :001_smile

Portland Razor Company also does 1/4s. Tim Zowada, Nate’s Straights, Joe Edson if you have money to spend.

There’s plenty of good vintage (early 20th century) 1/4s to be found, from European to Japanese makers

I'd have a look at:
Rigarazor, sold on eBay.
Koraat has its own site.

I can definitely recommend Rigarazor. I own a 7/8. They come up for sale from time to time on eBay.uk. About £130. Lovely razor for the price, can't say anything bad about them. Much thicker grind. Precise grinds and it comes from the maker truly "shave ready".
