Recommend me a cheap pinot noir

I'm looking for a cheap bottle of Pinot Noir to serve at Thanksgiving. I'd like something in the $15 range.

I'm only looking for Pinot recommendations at this time, so no need to school me on other grape choices.:thumbup1:

Pinot is the single hardest grape to buy, doubly so if you're looking for value. I'd recommend a simple Bourgogne from a well known producer and keeping your fingers crossed.

I really enjoy the Louis Jadot Bourgogne, which is a Pinot Noir from Burgundy and sells for around $15 in wine shops here.

Yellow Tail, its about 6 bucks and deep ruby color with nice legs.

Exactly.
Yellow Tail is a pretty good source for the cost.
Certainly not an upper crust elite wine, but it is a solid performer and won't break the bank.

It's a fine Australian Fighting Wine.

Mirasou. (not sure about spelling) This is as cheap as it gets, and for my uneducated palate, an outstanding value.

If you want to increase your budget a bit, I really like Wild Horse.

Clos du Bois Pinot Noir is available everywhere and is a nice and light Pinot.

A nice and light French is E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone

both just under $15

Meridian Vineyards makes a nice, reasonable, food-friendly pinot noir that is widely available in that price range. Navarro Vineyards in Mendocino also has its Methode Ancienne (not sure of that spelling ... ) but it might be above your price range.

My advise is to avoid budget pinot. Rarely do you find one worth drinking. Pinot is expensive because to get quality grapes, the vine has to be stripped of 2/3rds of it's grapes leaving the remaining 1/3 to get all the flavour.
Have a look at something like a straight cabernet.

+1...great choice :thumbup1:. PN is a crap chute. There are good and some very bad ones. The Louis Jadot is one of the greats. There's also one called Gypsy Boots (2008)...it is fantastic, but it is ~$30+

You might try Cupcake, a California Central Coast pinot. Inexpensive and tastes good. I agree that bigger price equals better pinot but if it tastes good to you, that's all that matters.

Grab something from New Zealand.

Some good advice here, although I think the advice about getting a straight cabernet is probably a better bet.

Charles Smith out of Washington makes a couple of killer pinots that hover near your price range and are well worth a look.

I see you're in southern CA. For about $20 you can buy a bottle of Melville Estate Verna's which is from Los Alamos. Under $15 is a tough price point for Pinot Noir.

Lots of Oregon pinots in that price range, great values to be had.

Some of the best Pinot noir come from the willamette valley in Oregon.

Rex hill is great but runs about 20-22 a bottle. They have another line called kings ridge which also makes great wine.

My advise is look more into this valley. It is known world wide as one of the best Pinot noir regions, the soil and climate is great for the grape.
