Recommend a Sandalwood aftershave for me.

What are your recommendations for a Sandlewood aftershave? I love the smell in soaps, and would like to have a nice smelling aftershave.

Thanks.

DR Harris Sandalwood is my favorite.

+1!

A warm, nice and potent woody/spicy drydown.

A somewhat more affordable option would be TOBS Sandalwood, though not as strong and/or refined, it is rather nice, but as volatile as jet-fuel so you tend to use a tad more...(Value?):confused1

Now, if you are more of a balm kind of guy, I find the C&E Sandalwood Balm to be quite potent for a balm and relatively true to the scent. I guess you can get some bargains when they go on sale on your side of the Pond.

Hope this helped...

D.R. Harris Sandalwood is VERY nice, and potent enough to double as a cologne. Very similar to TOBS; goes well with T&H Spanish Leather. Versatile.

great avatar! go big orange!

oh and good luck on the SW. i'm looking for A/S and cologne myself.

AOS makes a balm and a gel. To me, they both smell very close to the cologne, which I like. It's a bit of a strong smell though, so sample it first.

They're very good (and expensive) high quality products. I've been able to get mine at 40-50% off but such deals may be hard to find.

I've tried several and really like the Caswell-Massey line of Sandalwood scents and soaps. Used to wear CM Sandalwood all the time until my wife finally put her foot down about all sandalwood scents. Very clean and straight forward; not much else to it but sandalwood.

I think D.R.Harris Marlborough should also be on this list even though it is not a pure sandalwood aftershave like the ones mentioned above.

I was collateral damage on this; I've been hankering after DR Harris Sandalwood for a while now, and my willpower crumbled because of this thread!

Ah, sweet surrender!

DR Harris Sandalwood is a great warm & spicy sandalwood. I'd love it if it weren't for the heavy anise topnote.

Anise? As in licorice? I love the scent, yet I hate Jaegermeister (too much in college). But absinthe is very good (to be fair, I've never had it with wormwood, just the fake sans-wormwood version available in some US states).

Yes, as in licorice. The first thing that hits you when you open the bottle is the anise. Under that, their interpretation of sandalwood is wonderful. A very old-fashioned English sandal scent.

Extra props to Harris for the bottle & label as well. Green, saffron, orange, white....the colors of India with old-fashioned fonts. Very appropriate for sandalwood.
