Just returned from a central B.C. to northern Manitoba road trip (great fishing for walleye and pike around Flin Flon MB !). Along the way, we stopped and cruised a few small prairie town antique shops. I managed to collect the following Gillettes en route:
(1) Super Speed -1948-1950- in original (I think) clear/red plastic case,
(2) Slim Adjustable - 1961,
(3) British patent 403030 made in England - 1949 (I think this is also known as the Aristocrat Jr.?)
(4) Super Speed Blue Flare Tip (1955-59),
(5) Long Black handled Super Adjustable - 1970,
(6) Flare Tip Super Speed - (1962),
(7) Gillette tech? This one has what I've seen described as an "old style" gold, ball end handle, but the head is a 1932 Canada patent which seems to be nickel plated, SO .... I'm thinking I have a Frankenrazor variation on my hands?
I may not have all the production dates and IDs 100% correct here so I'm open for correction.
They're all cleaned and polished now, with no malfunctions or missing plating, so I'm ready to start dropping blades in them for trial runs.
My wife thinks I'm crazy, but at a total cost of about $60, I think I did OK. I also picked up a vintage red and white Rubberset ($3 as I recall) and have ordered a new Knot for it from TGN.
Sometimes I have just too much fun with this shaving stuff!
